Analysis

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School has 217 pages. This seems like a lot, but it is easy and fun to read.

It is a fictional book.  It is the 10th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series.  It is written by Jeff Kinney and was published in 2015  by Amulet Books.  The book is about the adventures of a boy named Greg Heffley, his family and his best friend Rowly.

The purpose of this book was to make kids laugh.  Greg is always doing silly things and getting into trouble.

It is written like a diary.  There are not chapters just entries divided up by days.  It is written in first person.  That means that Greg is telling the story.  Greg is the main character.  There are a lot of illustrations.  There are 1-2 pictures on each page.  This is an example of one of the illustrations.

The illustrations are usually funny and show what Greg is talking about in his diary.  The pictures are drawn to make it seem like Greg drew them. The font is interesting too.  It makes it look like Greg actually wrote it.

Scholastic.com says that kids in grades 3-8 might be interested in this book and the grade level equivalent is 5.2.
